**Adjusting Levels, Contrast, and Brightness**
The first two steps that most new photographers use when editing a photo are to adjust the levels and then the brightness of the photo. Adjusting the levels and brightness of an image in Photoshop is the equivalent of adjusting the brightness and contrast in a photo that was taken with the camera.
Often a photograph will look fine with only a slight level or brightness adjustment. However, if the photograph is not as bright or as dark as you’d like, you should adjust the levels and brightness. Most programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom have a Levels adjustment where you can adjust the brightness and contrast. For example, you can open the Adjustments panel in Figure 2-3, click the Curves button to add a new curve, click the eye icon, and then adjust the values to create a new curve, as shown in Figure 2-3. San Diego High school student Isabella “Bella” Allen and high school friend Clayton “Clyt” Coyle were in an accident on Highway 74 East where both were seriously injured.
Both were transported by ambulance to the UCLA Medical Center.
Fortunately it appears that there were no further injuries.
